His efforts helped put the defense in some good positions on the field, including one early in the second quarter that resulted in Heidelberg being pinned inside its own five-yard line. Two plays later, the Cardinals registered a safety.

Curtis helped Capital to their first win in 18 games in a 35-31 win over Otterbein with a career-best 14 tackles, including two tackles for a loss of 16 yards. One of those TFLs was a strip sack that resulted in a 14-yard loss for the Cardinal offense. Curtis was also involved in the game-clinching bat down on Otterbein's final hail mary attempt, helping Capital clinch the rivalry win.

Davis led the Pioneers with 14 total tackles (six solo) and one sack in a 51-50 win over Capital last week. His biggest stop came on Capital's 2-point conversion attempts with 26 seconds left in the game that preserved Marietta's one-point lead, 51-50. After a penalty moved the conversion attempt to the 1-yard line, Davis stopped Capital quarterback Thomas Wibbeler who was attempting to run it in for the go ahead points.

Leverette opened the season with a school-record and George Finnie Stadium record 100-yard kickoff return. Leverette also caught three passes for 63 yards with a 37-yard touchdown to help the Yellow Jackets to a 63-21 victory over Alma (Mich.).

John Carroll sophomore running back Ro Golphin (Cleveland/Gilmour Academy) rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Blue Streaks to a 35-10 win over Marietta. Golphin accounted for 221 all-purpose yards as JCU tallied 434 yards of total offense. This was the second-highest single-game rushing total by an OAC player this season (behind Capital’s Walton-207 yards vs. Muskingum on September 26).

Hollins blocked an extra point that would have put Heidelberg ahead 17-7 and returned the kick for a two points defensive PAT that made the score 16-9 early in the third quarter. Heidelberg had zero points and 64 yards offense the remainder of the game.

It was the program’s first 200-yard rushing game since 1990. Michals rushed for a 90-yard touchdown in the third quarter, which pushed him to 1,000 yards on the season.

Offense-Capital sophomore quarterback Chase Longwell (Hilliard/Hilliard Darby) totaled 362 yards of total offense and five touchdowns to lead the Crusaders to a 54-20 win over Earlham College (Ind.). Longwell passed for 198 yards and was eight-of-18 with three touchdowns. He rushed for 164 yards with touchdown runs of eight and 56 yards. Longwell helped the Crusaders set new program records in team rushing yards (537) and total offense (735 yards). The rushing yards stood for over 50 years when the 1963 team put together 510 yards against Kenyon College in a single game.

Marietta junior defensive end Nick Thompson (Lancaster) led the Pioneer defense in a 29-11 come from behind win over Kenyon. Marietta held Kenyon scoreless for three quarters, limited the Lords to just two first downs and only 29 total yards of offense in the second half. Thompson finished with six tackles, four tackles for a loss and three sacks.
