Heidelberg 133-pound freshman Justin Kihn (Ketterington/Ketterinton/Fairmont) finished first at the Mid-States Tournament (Alma,MI) with a 4-0 record. Kihn recorded three decisions and one fall on his way to being named freshman of the tournament.

Ohio Northern junior Kyle Kwiat (Bloomville/Calvert) helped lead the Polar Bears past Muskingum with a 17-0 win in 2:53 to earn his 13th technical fall of the season. On Friday, Kwiat earned his 14th technical fall against Heidelberg with a 16-0 win in 3:44, to help the team claim the OAC Regular-Season title.

Ohio Northern junior Kyle Kwiat (Bloomville/Calvert) went 4-0 with four technical falls to win the 174-pound weight class and earn MVP honors at the John Summa Invitational hosted by Baldwin-Wallace.  Kwiat is now 31-1 on the season and remains undefeated against NCAA Division III competition.

Mount Union senior Derick Hesson (Dexter City/Caldwell) posted six wins at 285 pounds and led the Purple Raiders to a third place finish at the Wheaton (Ill.)/Pete Willson Invitational this past weekend.  Hesson opened the week with a major decision over Muskingum's David Rice in dual meet win. Over the weekend he recorded five-straight wins to take title, including the fastest pin of the tournament with 16 seconds.

Mount Union senior Josh Malave (Rocky River/Lutheran West) went 3-0 overall, 1-0 in OAC action at 141 points last week.  Malave opened the week with a pin (6:26) over Ohio Northern’s Fowler. He then won by major decision (14-5) over Thiel’s Cramer and won by forfeit at Case Western.

Ohio Northern senior Mick Letcher (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) went undefeated at the 157-pound weight class with a 5-0 (1-0 OAC) record last week. Letcher opened the week with a pin over Baldwin-Wallace’s Cahill.  He went 4-0 against nationally ranked opponents, including a major decision and two pins at the Lycoming Duals.

Mount Union senior Derick Hesson (Dexter City/Caldwell) went undefeated at the 258-pound weight class with a 5-0 record at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. Hesson posted pins over third ranked Corey Anderson of Wisconsin-Whitewater and John Scepaniak of St. John’s. The Purple Raiders finished eighth overall.

John Carroll freshman Terner Gott (Ostego, MI) claimed the 157-pound title at the Citrus Open. Gott started the tournament as the fifth seed and went on to post a perfect 5-0 record, including a pin and major decision.

Ohio Northern junior Kyle Kwiat (Bloomville/Calvert) was the top seed at the Citrus open and won the 174-pound weight class with a perfect 5-0 record. Kwiat posted two pins and a technical fall.

Ohio Northern senior Mitch Letcher (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) pinned Scott Ray in 1:26 at the 157 weight class to help lead the Polar Bears past Division I Davidson (N.C.), 27-19 .

Ohio Northern 285-pound freshman Cody Lovejoy (Harrod/Allen East) led the Polar Bears to a 30-13 win at Manchester with a pin over Pedigo (2:05). Lovejoy is 7-3 overall this season, while the Polar Bears stand at 3-3 overall.

Ohio Northern junior Kyle Kwiat (Bloomville/Calvert) led the Polars Bears to sixth place out of 16 teams at the ONU Invitational. Kwiat won the 174 pound  title, with an impressive 5-0 record.  He won the Most Falls Awards and MVP honors with four pins and a technical fall.  He is now 9-0 on the season with four pins and three tech falls.

Ohio Northern sophomore Michael Pawlitz (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) went undefeated in the 197-pound weight class at the Olivet (Mich.) Comet Duals, posting three pins and defeating Whitewater’s Justin Birschbach, 6-0.

Heidelberg sophomore Chris Osborn (McComb) posted a 3-3 record for the week, including matches against three NCAA Division I opponents. Highlighting Osborne's week was an appearance in the 141-pound quarterfinals of the Michigan State Open. Osborne pinned opponents in his first two matches in a combined 4:52 in the freshman/sophomore division of the tournament.  He also pinned a third opponent in the sixth round of the consolation bracket.
