Kupniewski, who entered the Ithica Invite ranked fifth, claimed his first career invitational championship with a 5-0 record.  He opened the invitational with a 16-0 technical fall win over Kayo Torres of Springfield (Mass.) College, and then posted two more technical fall victories over Ethan Kring of Greensboro (N.C.) College and Pedro Cruz of Ithaca by scores of 16-1 and 17-2, respectively. Kupniewski advanced to the championship match with a 6-3 decision victory over BW’s Tommy West. He claimed the title with a 6-1 sudden victory decision over Nicholas Roeger of Castleton (V.T.) University.
