Otterbein's Hackney and Ohio Northern's Stewart Selected Academic All-District (Softball)

(COMPLETE LIST)

Austintown, Ohio-Otterbein University senior Courtney Hackney (Columbus/Bishop Ready) and Ohio Northern senior Gabby Stewart (Union, Ky./St. Henry) have earned spots on the Div. III Softball Academic All-District Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Academic All-District Teams recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Due to the shortened schedule this year, career stats were used for all spring nominations.

Hackney, a biochemistry and molecular biology major with a 3.98 GPA, earned All-OAC honors in 2019 and led the league in home runs as a sophomore.

Stewart, a nursing major with a 3.41 GPA, is a two-time All-OAC selection and a three-time OAC Hitter of the Week honoree.

Both will advance to the Academic All-America ballot. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by their sports information director. Academic All-America selections for baseball/softball will be announced next month.
