Simon Heys Named USTFCCCA Regional Men’s Athlete of the Year

 

 

USTFCCCA 2023 Regional Awards

New Orleans, LA - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has named Wilmington senior Simon Heys the 2023 Regional Men's Athlete of the Year after a successful few weeks at the OAC Cross Country Championships and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships.

On October 28, Heys became the first individual men's cross country conference champion in Wilmington College history when crossed the finish line in the men's 8k in 24:15. 

Last weekend, Heys won his first regional championship of his career, and broke his own school record in the 8,000-meter win, finishing the race at the 23:46.7 mark.

The regional win punched Heys' ticket to his third straight National Championship. Dickinson College is hosting the Division III Cross Country Shampionships on November 18 at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania. The men’s race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by the women’s race at Noon Eastern.
