VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Ohio Athletic Conference was heavily represented at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Mount Union women's track & field team finished sixth overall, finishing with 28 points. Wayt led the Raiders and added two more national championships titles to her name as she won the 200 and 400-Meters, and earned an All-American honor taking runner-up in the 60-Meters. Wayt now has 18 All-Americans and five national titles to her name, and was named recipient of the Elite 90 award and the 2024 NCAA DIII Women's Indoor Track & Field National Track Athlete of the Year (by the USTFCCCA).
Other top finishers in women's track and field include Baldwin Wallace's Hope Murphy (second in 800 meters), Otterbein's Peyton Proffitt (third in pole vault) and Wilmington's Faith Duncan (seventh in 3000 meters).
On the men's side, John Carroll placed fifth overall (21 points), which is the highest program finish at an indoor track & field national championship meet and third consecutive top six finish. Top John Carroll finishers included Ethan Domitrovich (sixth in the mile), Basheer Alramahi (third in 400 meters), Caleb Correia (third in 800 meters), and the 4x400 relay quartet of Tyler Gast, Garett Clark, Correia and Alramahi finishing third.
Mount Union men's 4x400 relay team of Matt McBride, Jared Storm, Justin Knoch and Haden Gibson took home the national title and broke both the school and meet record, finishing the relay in 3:11.52. Baldwin Wallace's Christian Pfeiffer also took home the national champion title, finishing first in the high jump with a height of 6' and 10¾".
In addition, All-America honors for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Monday by the USTFCCCA. Athletes who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually and ninth and tenth as part of a relay earned Second-Team All-America. From the OAC, 21 men and eight women earned All-America honors in one or multiple events.
