RECAP: NCAA Div. III Outdoor National Championships

ROCHETSER, N.Y— The Ohio Athletic Conference was well represented at NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by hosted by St. John Fisher University at Polisseni Track and Field Complex. On the men's side, John Carroll tied Rowan for third place with 39 points, followed by Mount Union in sixth place with 25 points and Wilmington in ninth place with 21 points.  On the women's side, Mount Union landed in the top-10 with 27 points to finish seventh overall.  Athletes who finished 1-8 in individual events, as well as those on top-8 relay teams earn All-American honors.

Event Highlights:

Baldwin Wallace

Junior Hope Murphy competed in the 1500-meter prelims, where she came into event being ranked sixth. She placed 13th in the event with a time of 4:30.99, one spot short to qualify for the finals.

Sophomore Abby Collier placed 20th in the 400-meter prelims with a time of 57.82 seconds, falling short for a qualifying spot to the finals. 

Senior Brooke Buckhannon placed 13th in the hammer throw with a mark of 170' 6". 

Junior Christian Pfeiffer placed 11th in the high jump with a height of 6' 5½".


John Carroll

Alex Phillip won the national title in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:07.39 and the 10,000-meters with a time of 28:37.89, setting a new NCAA Championships record.

Senior Garrett Clark placed third in the 400m with a mark of 47.13.

The 4x100m relay consisting of Garrett Clarke, Cam Klauke, Dustin Horner, and Jimmy Kartsonas finished in third place with a time 40.41 seconds.

Junior Ethan Domitrovich placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 8:54.93.

Senior Corey Minton came in 16th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.22m.

The 4x100m relay team of Genevieve Arnold, Mia Scott, Taylor Anthony, and Rosie Murray just missed out on qualifying for the finals with a ninth place finish in the preliminaries in 47.27.

Marietta

Freshman Emily Thompson placed tenth in the pole vault with a mark of 12'7.5".

Mount Union

The 4x400 relay team of Matt McBride, Jared Storm, Tyler Gill and Justin Knoch broke the Division III record with a winning time of 3:07.24.

Senior Matt McBride finished runner-up in the 400 meters with a time of 46.04.

Storm and Gill also teamed up with Tyler Shannon  and Andrew McVicker to finish in fifth place the 4x100 meter relay with a of 40.84.
 
Senior Brody Coleman finished ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 48-feet 4.5-inches.

Senior Kenadee Wayt won the national title in the 400 meters in a time of 54.33 and the 200 meters in a time of 23.95.

Kennady Gibbins, Madison Miles and Mary Mason joined Wayt for an eighth place finish in the 4x400-Meter relay in:42.50.
 
Wayt, Gibbins and Miles combined with Lauren Roncone to finish eighth in the 4x100-Meter relay.
 
Senior Brit McCauley placed eighth in the 1,500-Meters with a time of 4:34.76.

Muskingum

Senior Macy McAdams recorded a time of 35:36.11 to finish 13th in the 10,000-meters.

Ohio Northern

Sophomore Jordan Dean finished in eighth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of :48.03.

Junior Keegan Digby finished in sixth place in the shot put with a toss of 16.71 meters.

Senior Tessa Pitcovich finished 21st in the 10000-meter run.

Otterbein

Senior Cal Yackin finished in 11th place with a time of 3:47.91.

Freshman Peyton Proffitt cleared 12-11.5 in the pole vault to land in fifth place.

Junior Emma Klosterman finished ninth in the high jump with a mark of 5-05.25.

Wilmington

Junior Simon Heys landed in fourth place in the 10,000-meters with a time of 29:12.62. Simon also finished in 17th place in the 5,000-meters with a mark of 15:02.77.

Sophomore Brady Vilvens clinched the national title in the high jump with a height of 6-09.75.

Sophomore JJ Durr placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 193-11, followed by sophomore Nathan Borgan in sixth place (193-06).
