John Carroll Men and Women Win Ninth-Consecutive OAC Swimming & Diving Titles

AKRON, Ohio – The John Carroll men's and women's swimming & diving teams both captuted its ninth-consecutive OAC Swimming & Diving Championships this evening at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.

On the men's side, John Carroll finished first with 933 points. Ohio Northern finished in second place with 676 points, followed by Mount Union with 536 points, Baldwin Wallace with 397 points, Wilmington with 335 points and Heidelberg with 116 points.

John Carroll won 13 events during the course of the four-day championship event (800 Free Relay, 200 Free Relay, 200 Individual Medley, 50 Free, 400 Medley Relay, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Individual Medley, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 1650 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 400 Free Relay). The Blue Streaks broke one OAC record and had nine NCAA B cut times.

Joe Nadur was named the OAC Men's Swimmer of the Year. Nadur was the OAC Champion in the 800 Free Relay, 200 IM (NCAA B cut) and the 400 Individual Medley. Baldwin Wallace's Jason Heisler was named the OAC Men's Diver of the Year. Heisler was the OAC Champion in both the 1 and 3-meter dives, setting a new OAC record in the 3-meter dive, scoring 536.80 points. Ohio Northern's coaching staff was named the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

On the women's side, John Carroll finished in first place with 1,010 points. Baldwin Wallace took the runner-up spot with 661.5 points. Mount Union finished third with 655 points, followed by Ohio Northern with 479 points, Wilmington with 201 points and Heidelberg with 194.5 points.

John Carroll won the 800 Free Relay, 200 Free Relay, 200 IM, 50 Free, 400 Medley Relay, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 3-meter dive. The Blue Streaks broke two OAC records, had one NCAA B cut time and one NCAA B cut diving score.

John Carroll's Mairin Dalziel was named the OAC Women's Swimmer of the Year. Dalziel was the OAC Champion in the 800 Free Relay (OAC record), 200 Free Relay, 50 Free (NCAA B cut), 400 Medley Relay, 200 Medley Relay and the 100 Freestyle (OAC record). Baldwin Wallace freshman Makenna Mincey was named the OAC Women's Diver of the Year. Mincey was the OAC Champion in the 1-meter dive and earned second place and All-OAC honors in the 3-meter dive. Additionally, Baldwin Wallace's coaching staff was named the Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.
