Day 3 Recap: Swimming & Diving Championships

AKRON, Ohio – Several conference and school records fall during day three of the Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.
 
On the women’s side, John Carroll leads the team standings with 678 points, Mount Union is second with 509 points, Ohio Northern is in third with 372 points, Baldwin Wallace is fourth with 282 points and Wilmington is fifth with 163 points.

John Carroll leads the men’s team standings with 632 points, Mount Union is second with 428 points, Ohio Northern is in third with 422 points, Baldwin Wallace is fourth with 266 points and Wilmington is fifth with 200 points.

Men’s Top Performances

  • 200 Medley Relay: The John Carroll squad of Liam McDonnell, Jonah Venos, Bryce Liddell and Daniel Argalious finished first with a time of 1:27.60, setting a new OAC record and earning an NCAA B cut.
  • 400 IM: John Carroll’s Joe Nadur placed first with a time of 3:59.18, setting a new OAC record by just .47 and earning an NCAA B cut.
  • 100 Fly: Ohio Northern’s Jackson Stanley won the OAC title with a time of :49.79.
  • 200 Free: Jake Farr from John Carroll placed first in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:41.39.
  • 100 Breast: JCU’s Jonah Venos also received an NCAA B cut with his time of 54.33 and first place finish.
  • 100 Back: John Carroll’s Liam McDonnell placed first with a time of 46.95. McDonnell set a new OAC record, a JCU program record, a pool record, and earned an NCAA B cut.
  • 3 Meter Diving: Ohio Northern’s Holden Cubberley placed first in the 3-meter for the second year in a row with his score of 527.30 and earning an NCAA B cut. Baldwin Wallace’s Jason Heisler also earned an NCAA B cut with his second-place score of 454.25.

Women’s Top Performances

  • 200 Medley Relay: The JCU squad of Maddie Panus, Olivia Goodman, Allie Geletka, and Anna Glass secured a first-place finish with a time of 1:48.32.
  • 400 IM: JCU's Olivia Goodman placed first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:33.78.
  • 100 Fly: Mount Union’s Maddie Horrigan won the 100 Fly with a time of 57.66.
  • 200 Free: John Carroll’s Mairin Dalziel took home first place, finishing with a time of 1:53.73.
  • 100 Back: JCU's Lauren Koppelmann finished first with a time of 59.81.
  • 100 Breast: Tia Brown from Baldwin Wallace placed first in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:06.58.
  • 1 Meter Diving: Mount Union’s Claire Fried placed first with a score of 387.10.

The final day of the OAC Swimming & Diving Championships begins Friday morning inside the Ocasek Natatorium at the University of Akron. Prelims will begin at 10:00 am, and finals will begin at 5:45 pm. Fans can watch live here.
