Mount Union's Fried, Ohio Northern’s Cubberley Named OAC Divers of the Month


 

Westerville, Ohio Mount Union freshman Claire Fried (Kent, Ohio / Kent Roosevelt) and Ohio Northern sophomore Holden Cubberley (Celina, Ohio /Celina ) have been named the OAC Divers of the Month for January.

Fried won the one-meter dive in three of the four meets that she competed in during the month of January, finishing first against Ohio Northern (175.57 points), Allegheny (198 points), and Westminster (169.10 points). She also was the top Division III diver in a double dual against Akron (Division I) and Baldwin Wallace, finishing fourth overall.

This is the second time this season and in her career that she has won OAC Diver of the Month.

Cubberley began the month by finishing first of two in both the 1-and 3-meter diving events in a tri-meet at Oberlin with No. 2 Kenyon on Jan. 13. He also won both events in a tri-meet at Ohio Wesleyan with Bluffton on Jan. 20. In dual meets at Mount Union on Jan. 14 and against Baldwin Wallace on Jan. 21, Cubberley won the 1-meter diving and was second in 3-meter diving. Cubberley set a new school record in 1-meter diving against Grove City (Pa.) on Jan. 28, scoring 328.65 points. He also won the 3-meter dive, scoring a career-best 295.30 points for six dives.

This is the second time this season he has won OAC Diver of the Month and third time overall.
