Heidelberg sophomore running back Germany Woods (Cleveland/St. Edward) tallied 173 yard rushing on 24 carries and scored a season-high three touchdowns to lead the Berg past Ohio Northern, 48-21, breaking ONU’s 16-game winning streak in the series.

Capital senior linebackerTroy Spiker (Rootstown) led the Crusaders defense with seven tackles, one sack and interception in a 24-3 win over Marietta.

Heidelberg senior corner back Tony Gordon (Euclid) recovered a fumble on a fake punt and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown in a 48-21 win over Ohio Northern. Gordon also made seven tackles.

Offense
-Heidelberg sophomore running back/kick returns Cartel Brooks (Kokomo, Ind./Galion) rushed for 139 yards on just 11 carries for a 9.9 yard average and a 57-yard touchdown. Brooks also returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown, to help lead the Berg past John Carroll, 41-28.

Defense-Marietta freshman defensive back Jake Green (Yulee,Fla/) led the Pioneer’s defense with 12 tackles (11 solo) and two interceptions, in 30-27 win over Otterbein. Green’s first interception set up Marietta’s first field goal, while the second was picked off at the one yard line, preventing a touchdown.

Special Teams-Ohio Northern junior running back/kick returns DeMarqus Payne (White House, TN) rushed 86 yards on 11 carries and returned kickoffs for 75 and 79 yards for touchdowns, finishing the day with 260 all-purpose yards, as the Polar Bears defeated Wilmington, 51-15.  Payne becomes the first Polar Bear in school history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the same game

Offense-
John Carroll junior quarterback Devin O’Brien (Brookfield) amassed 329yards of total offense with four touchdowns to lead the Blue Streaks to a 37-24 win over Capital. O’Brien threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another 50 yards and two more touchdowns. He has surpassed 2,500 passing yards and eclipsed 500 yards rushing for this career.

Defense-Heidelberg senior defensive lineman Jacob Mitchell (Wyandtte,Mich) anchored the Berg’s defense with a team and season-high 12 tackles, including nine solo stops, with 2.0 sacks for losses of10 yards in a 49-20 win against Wilmington. The Quaker’s offense was limited to just 334 total yards.

Special Teams- Ohio Northern senior defensive back Chad Coward (Crestline/Shelby) blocked a punt that was returned by Zack Click for a touchdown in the first quarter of ONU’s 56-36 victory over Marietta.

Offense- Heidelberg sophomore running back Germany Woods (Cleveland/St. Edward) Woods rushed for a game and season-high 226 yards on a career-high 34 carries with two touchdowns to help lead the Berg past Marietta, 42-20.

Defense-Heidelberg junior linebacker Craig Sykes (Centerburg) led the Berg defense with two sacks, six tackles, and notched his fourth interception of the season.  Heidelberg held Marietta to just 33 rushing yards in a 42-20 victory.

Special Teams-Baldwin-Wallace sophomore wide receiver/kick returns Josiah Holt (Elyria/Grafton Midview) returned the second half kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown in the Yellow Jackets 75-0 win over Wilmington.  Holt also caught two passes for 31 yards.

Offense-Marietta senior quarterback Andrew Keller (Cincinnati/Glen Este) accounted for three of the Pioneers' four touchdowns in a 31-6 victory over Wilmington. Keller rushed for 69 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns and was 13-of-21 for 163 yards passing with one touchdown.

Defense-Baldwin-Wallace senior safety Ryan Dugan (Mentor) had a career-high 16 tackles, including seven tackles and one tackle for loss as B-W held Ohio Northern to just 235 yards of total offense in a 20-6 win.

Special Teams-Baldwin-Wallace sophomore punter Matt Harmon (Canfield) averaged a career-best 47.2 yards in four punting attempts in a 20-6 win over Ohio Northern, including a career-long 51-yard punt that landed on the ONU 19-yard line.

Offensive- Baldwin-Wallace junior running back Tyler Lohr (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) ran for 123 yards in a career-high 28 attempts and scored on runs of three, 11 and two yards to help the Yellow Jackets to a 27-21 win at Otterbein. Lohr also caught one pass for 10 yards.

Defensive- Ohio Northern senior defensive back Chad Coward (Crestline/Shelby) had two interceptions for 80 yards, blocked an extra point and tallied three solo tackles in the Polar Bear’s 38-20 win over Capital.

Special Teams- Heidelberg junior kicker Dan Kilger (Novi, MI) made three of his four field goal attempts including career-highs of 39 and 28 yards. Kilger totaled nine points in the Berg’s 17-7 victory over Muskingum.

Offensive- John Carroll senior quarterback Devin O’Brien accounted for a career-high 403 yards of total offense in the Blue Streak’s 41-34 double overtime win against Otterbein. O’Brien rushed for a career-high 185 yards and three touchdowns and scored the game winning touchdown in the second overtime.

 

Defensive- Baldwin-Wallace senior defensive end Derron Hamilton (Euclid) had a team-high 11 tackles, 3.5 quarterback sacks and 4.5 tackles for a loss of 21 yards as the Yellow Jacket defense limited Marietta to 151 yards of total offense in a 17-7 win.

Special Teams- Heidelberg junior kicker Dan Kilger (Novi, MI) made three of his four field goal attempts including career-highs of 39 and 28 yards. Kilger totaled nine points in the Berg’s 17-7 victory over Muskingum.

Offensive- John Carroll junior running back Casey Vogl came off the bench in the first quarter with only 23 career rushing yards to help the Blue Streaks to a 37-35 win over Marietta. Vogl carried the ball 17 times for 145 yards and four touchdowns, all career-highs.

Defensive- Muskingum senior linebacker Ethan Wetzel (Galena/Big Walnut) led the Muskie defense with a game-high 15 tackles, one interception for 47 yards and a half of a sack in a 34-14 win over Marietta.

Special Teams- Heidelberg junior kicker Dan Kilger (Novi, Mich.) connected on both of his field goal attempts, from 29 and 30 yards and converted all five of his point-after-touchdown tries to help the Berg to a 41-20 win over Otterbein.

Offensive- Baldwin-Wallace junior quarterback Ryan O’Rourke completed 24-of-29 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns without an interception to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 35-20 win over Heidelberg.

Special Teams- Muskingum sophomore running back Alvin Taylor (Stubenville) helped lift the Muskies past Marietta, 34-14, when he returned a   punt 36 yards for a touchdown.

Offensive- Marietta sophomore wide receiver Kirby Harris (Greenville, S.C./South Side) tallied 11 receptions for 116 yards and three touchdowns to help the Pioneers to a 32-24 win over Thiel.

Defensive- Ohio Northern junior linebacker Joe Powell (Findlay) returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown to go along with his eight tackles, including five solo and a 1.5 TFL, and a fumble recovery in the Polar Bears 38-20 win over NC Wesleyan.

Special Teams- Otterbein junior punter Aaron Kingcade (Worthington/Worthington Kilbourne) helped lift the Cardinals past Gallaudet, 28-27, with a career-best 46.8 average on five punts for a total of 234 yards, including a career-long 54-yard punt.

Special Teams- Marietta junior punter Sean Munfield (Marietta) tallied 184 yards on four punts for a 46.0 average with a long of 54 yards in the Pioneers’ 32-24 victory over Thiel.
