Ohio Athletic Conference

Brown, Collins and Peake Selected to NCAA DIII Student Immersion Program

The Ohio Athletic Conference is proud to recognize Taylor Brown (Muskingum), Quentin Collins (Muskingum) and Jahiem Peake (John Carroll) for being selected to participate in the 2023 NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program.

The immersion program will bring a group of 40 ethnic minority students to the 2023 NCAA Convention in January. The selected students are fully funded to attend the Convention, and are exposed to Division III, its members and its governance process. Recipients also receive DiSC behavioral self-assessment and training, and attend welcome and debrief meetings throughout Convention.

The Student Immersion Program is geared towards people of color and ethnic minorities to provide networking opportunities, leadership training, and prepare student-athletes for careers in athletic administration and coaching. The programming's objective is to create a pool of individuals that will eventually diversify Division III's coaching and/or administrative landscape.

Taylor Brown

Muskingum University ’21 (B.A. in Athletics Communication and Sport Administration)

Assistant Director of Athletics Communication at Muskingum University

“I couldn't help but feel blessed and honored to further my knowledge and represent Muskingum University and the Ohio Athletic Conference in the 2023 Student Immersion Program. Being selected for a competitive convention is such an amazing feeling because I get to represent who I am, while also improving ways to not only become a better leader at work but in life. Without the support of my family, friends, student-athletes, and co-workers I wouldn't be where I am today.”

Quentin Collins

Muskingum University ’24 (Health and Fitness major)

Baseball Student-Athlete

“Being able to participate in the NCAA Student Immersion program while representing Muskingum and the OAC is an overwhelming yet exciting opportunity. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and learning different ways to improve diversity and inclusion in my school and community.”

Jahiem Peake

John Carroll University ’24 (Sports Studies major)

Football Student-Athlete

“Representing John Carroll and the OAC at the Student Immersion Program is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I chose JCU because of unique opportunities like this one. My mindset heading into the convention is to be a sponge, as I want to soak up all the information and wisdom I can. The networking aspect is also something I'm very excited about. Division III is special because you have the opportunity to be more than an athlete. I'm grateful for all of the doors JCU Athletics has opened for me.”

The 2023 NCAA Convention will be held in San Antonio, Texas, January 11-14.
