NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The John Carroll women's cross country team took care of business at the 2022 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Agnes Moorehead Farm at Muskingum, as they won their third straight conference crown.

JCU also became only the fifth team to win three or more OAC Championships in a row since 1980, joining Baldwin Wallace (1981-1983), Heidelberg (1998-2000), Ohio Northern (2010-2012), and Otterbein (2015-2018).

Erica Esper led the way for the Blue Streaks with a third place finish with a time of 22:52.0.  This marked the second straight year where the senior finished in the top 10, as she earned sixth at last season's meet.

Freshman Abby Schroff finished in sixth with a mark of 23:21.2, while Cameron Bujaucius (8th, 23:37.9), Sarah Weldon (9th, 23:40.0), and Jennifer Massucci (10th, 23:43.3) rounded out the top 10 for JCU, with each earning First Team All-OAC honors.

This year's championships marked the fourth year where Bujaucius finished in the top eight, as she placed third, second, and seventh at the 2018, 2019, and 2021 meets respectfully.

Ellie Kitsmiller (11th, 23:43.4) and Amanda Keim (12th, 23:44.7) rounded out the point scorers for John Carroll, as each received Second Team All-OAC honors.

Other notable place finishers included Morgan Edwards (21st), Sydney Wingler (22nd), Katie Vasiliauskas (26th), Danica Hruby (31st), and Anastasia Bakuhn (33rd) for JCU.

John Carroll defeated second place Ohio Northern by 31 points, while Mount Union came in third with 75.  Baldwin Wallace (4th), Heidelberg (5th), Otterbein (6th), Muskingum (7th), Marietta (8th), Wilmington (9th), and Capital (10th) rounded out the rest of the teams.

The Blue Streaks will compete at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday, November 12 at West Ottawa Golf Course in Holland, Michigan.  JCU placed third at last season's meet to qualify for nationals for the second year in a row.
