Raiders Win Second Straight and 10th Overall OAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship

BEREA, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's track and field team won its second straight and 10th overall OAC outdoor track championship Friday at Baldwin Wallace University.
 
Junior Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W. Va. / Wheeling Central Catholic) won the most outstanding sprinter of the meet winning the 100-meters, 200-meters, and part of the 4x100-meter winning team with marks all in the top 9 of the nation.
 
Senior Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) grabbed co-Field athlete of the meet as she won the high jump, finished second in the long jump, and grabbed fourth in the javelin.
 
Wayt won the 100-meters in a time of 12.05 which is an OAC Meet record, but Wayt bested that in the prelims with a 11.94 good for fifth in the nation. Wayt then came back and won the 200-meters in 24.59 good for eighth in the nation.
 
The quartet of senior Cortni Arp (Copley), sophomores Madison Miles (Padua / Padua Franciscan) and Lauren Roncone (North Canton / Hoover) and Wayt won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.54 which sits ninth in the nation.
 
Gibbins won the high jump with a leap of 5-feet 2.5-inches and the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.79 while finishing runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles.
 
In the 400-meters the ladies took the top five spots with Miles running the seventh fastest time in the nation with a 55.90. Junior Micah Donley (Carrollton) and senior Cortni Arp (Copley) finished in second and third for All-OAC honors while seniors Lily Bogunovich (Alliance / Marlington) and Olivia Powers (Norwalk / St. Paul) rounded out the scoring.
 
The final event of the day ended in a victory for the 4x400-meter relay with a quartet of senior Michaelina Terranova (North Jackson / Jackson-Milton) freshman Mary Mason along with Bogunovich and Powers. The team went 4:03.36 good for a seven second victory.
 
Picking up All-OAC honors in the top three of their events was Michaelina finished second in the 400-meter hurdles and third in the 100-meter hurdles senior Brit McCauley (Ontario) finished runner-up in the 1500-meter run running 4:35.22 sitting 16th in the nation and the 800-meters, junior Megan Wertz (Canton / GlenOak) finished third in the 1500-meter run, Miles picked up a third-place finish in the 200-meters.
 
Kevin Lucas and his coaching staff picked up Coaching staff of the year for Mount Union.
