Osborn Named IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced Capital University senior midfielder Grace Osborn as their pick for the IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week.

Osborn made more history this past week, becoming the NCAA's all-time points-leader across all divisions and all genders on Saturday, surpassing the Division II record of 565 after having broken the Division III record earlier this season. She now sits atop the points throne with a career total of 569 and counting.

Osborn turned in two great performances as the Comets went 1-1, losing a close one to Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday 16-17, and then bouncing back to dominate in the Battle for the Oar against Otterbein 19-6.

Against Ohio Wesleyan, Osborn scored a team-high seven goals, adding three assists for 10 points as well as team-highs in draw controls, ground balls, and caused turnovers with 10, three, and two respectively.

Moving on to Saturday at Otterbein, Osborn would go on to score six goals and dish out three assists for a total of nine points, additionally having team-highs in draw controls, ground balls, and caused turnovers once again with 13, seven, and three.

In total, Osborn put up 19 points, 13 goals, six assists, 23 draw controls, 10 ground balls, and five caused turnovers this week, bringing her season totals to 62 goals, 17 assists, 79 points, 86 draw controls, 24 ground balls, and 15 caused turnovers. All-in-all she now is the all-time NCAA-leader with 447 career goals and 569 career points, as well as having a program-leading 495 career draw controls alongside 122 career assists, 197 career ground balls, and 128 career caused turnovers.

This is Osborn's sixth time earning the IWLCA weekly award and second this season, coming exactly a month after winning it for the first time this year on February 25th.

Osborn and the Comets are back in action tomorrow night, March 26th, as they host Marietta at 7:00 p.m.
