Osborn Named IWLCA/USA Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Week

IWLCA Release  |  USA Lacrosse Magazine Release

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. / SPARKS, Md. – As announced on Tuesday, Capital University women's lacrosse junior midfielder Grace Osborn has earned National Player of the Week honors from both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and USA Lacrosse Magazine. This is the third time Osborn has been named the nation's top player of the week by either organization, having received two weekly awards from the IWLCA last season.

Osborn – a USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team Preseason All-American – started the 2024 campaign off strong on Saturday, leading the Purple and White to a 23-17 win over Oberlin. She scored a team-high nine goals and dished out two assists to total 11 points and cross the 300 career point milestone. Osborn becomes the third Capital player to achieve such a feat after Brooke Delara (389) and Luci Kanowsky (343). Elsewhere on the field, she collected five draw controls and four ground balls, also causing one turnover.

Osborn looks to add even more to her illustrious resume this season, having already secured the 300 career point milestone and chasing down 300 career goals and 300 career draw controls. She also looks to make it three straight years as the nation's scoring leader and is well within striking distance of Capital's all-time scoring leader Kanowsky's 254 career goals, just 18 back at 246.

Osborn and the Comets return to action on Wednesday, February 21, taking on Centre College at home. First draw from Bernlohr Stadium will take place at 5 p.m.

This season, Osborn is Capital's fourth student-athlete to be recognized with a national weekly award after Samaree Perkins was named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week earlier Tuesday morning, also joining Bri O'Connor's D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection and James Curtis' D3football.com Team of the Week selection in the fall.
