Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Haborfields) was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Defensive Player of the Week 2/27.
Â
This is the first time a Purple Raider was named to the National IWLCA Offensive or Defensive player of the week.
Â
In a game involving both teams that made the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament last year Lindkvist came in the second half making nine saves and allowing just three goals in the 13-12 overtime win against Washington and Jefferson.
Â
Lindkvist made two saves in overtime including an 8-Meter save which led to the game winning goal.
Â
It is the first time in Lindkvist's career winning the award.
Â
The Raiders host their season opener on Wednesday against Chatham with a 5 PM start time and then will go on a spring break trip to Oregon.
