COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University junior women's basketball player
Samaree Perkins has been selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the second time this season and third time in her career. The national honor comes on the heels of Perkins also being named the OAC Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Perkins helped guide the Comets to a 2-0 week that saw the team hold off Wilmington on the road for a 68-62 win and then rout rivals Otterbein at home via a 73-54 score. At Wilmington, Perkins scored 25 points to go with 14 rebounds and four assists. She finished with a 70% field goal percentage, a 60% three-point percentage, and an 88.9% free throw percentage. Against Otterbein, Perkins scored 16 points to go with 11 rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist. In that game she shot 50%/66.7%/80% as well. Additionally, Perkins scored her 1,000th career point in the game.
Across the two games, she averaged 20.5 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG all on 60%/62.5%/85.7% shooting percentages.
Since the inception of the D3hoops.com Team of the Week in January of 1998, Capital has featured nine different student-athletes for a total of 14 selections on the national team.
The Comets will kick off OAC Tournament play tonight, with a 7 p.m. tipoff at home vs. Marietta.
