Nicole Heffington Selected to D3Hoops.com Team of the Week

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- You couldn't ask for a much better start to the 2021 campaign for Nicole Heffington and John Carroll University Women's Basketball.

The Blue Streaks swept Heidelberg University this past weekend, 80-45 and 78-56, leaping to a 2-0 start in an abbreviated 2021 season.

Heffington's heroics played a crucial part in the victories, so accordingly, she's snagged a spot on the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week at forward.

The 5'10" senior put on a show this weekend. In the season opener on Friday, Heffington poured in a team-high 16 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field. She also added 8 rebounds (2 offensive, 6 defensive), 3 assists, and 3 steals in a complete effort.

The Mentor native performed even better in the latter game of back-to-back duels with the Student Princes. In the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center, Heffington led all scorers with 20 points, connecting on 10-of-14 opportunities from the field. She achieved the 14th double-double of her career by tallying a game-high 11 rebounds. Additionally, she tabbed 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.

"Heff was extremely focused and excited to play opening weekend," said Head Coach Beth Andrews '15. "She is counting everyday as a blessing and making the most of it. As a team, our goal is to get better every practice, and I am happy with all their efforts!"

Heffington and the Blue Streaks return to action on Friday, as the University of Mount Union will visit University Heights for a 7 pm tipoff. The Purple Raiders carry an 0-2 mark entering the rivalry matchup.
