Olivia Nagy
Olivia Nagy's amazing week of basketball continues to reap accolades.

The sophomore center followed her Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award with a pair of national honors.

The D3hoops.com Team of the Week recognized Nagy as the center on its weekly honor roll. Nagy led John Carroll to a 2-0 week with victories over Otterbein at home on Wednesday and at Wilmington on the road Saturday. On Wednesday, she posted a near triple-double with 22 points, a career-high 19 rebounds, and eight blocks. Nagy followed up her performance with another double-double showing on Saturday with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks. Her weekly averages were 23.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 6.5 blocks per game on 59% FG shooting.

The Team of the Week presented by Scoutware is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll, in its 23rd season of recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Nagy also became the first John Carroll basketball player in nearly three years to earn the United States Basketball Writers Association Division III National Player of the Week prize for the week ending January 12.

After tallying 13 blocks in her last two contests, Nagy now leads NCAA Division III with 4.15 blocks per game (and is also third best in all NCAA Divisions) and is 13th in field goal percentage (.585).

In addition, Nagy also averages 16.6 points-per-game (2nd OAC) and 9.6 rebounds-per-game (2nd OAC). Nagy has not scored below 10 points in any contest thus far.

Nagy has played a large part to John Carroll's success thus far. The Blue Streaks are now 11-2 on the year and 5-1 in the OAC. Moreover, the Blue and Gold are a perfect 6-0 at home thus far and have won a program record 19 consecutive home games dating back to last season.

Each Tuesday, the USBWA is selecting men's and women's Division III National Players of the Week. This is the sixth season that the USBWA will recognize national players of the week from Division III.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.

John Carroll's next contest will be at home this Wednesday evening against Heidelberg University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
