Austintown, Ohio- Ohio Northern senior Gabby Stewart (Union, Ky./St. Henry) and Otterbein senior Courtney Hackney (Columbus/Bishop Ready) have landed on the CoSIDA Softball Academic All-America First-Team.
Stewart is a nursing major with a 3.41 GPA. Stewart was batting .393 with three home runs and nine RBI though 10 games this season before the campaign was stopped on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Hackney is a biochemistry & molecular biology major with 3.98 GPA. Hanckey is a returning All-OAC selection and tallied a .314 career batting average to accompany 61 RBI and 15 home runs
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by their sports information director. Academic All-America selections for baseball/softball will be announced next month.
