Hughes named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week

Muskingum senior outfielder Krissy Hughes was honored for her outstanding play last week by being named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week.

Hughes led the Muskies batting a sizzling .633 (19-of-30) with a 1.067 slugging percentage as the leadoff hitter. She scored 15 runs, belted nine doubles, smacked two triples and tallied two RBIs while guiding Muskingum to a 6-2 week of play and a 2-0 start in the rugged Ohio Athletic Conference. Furthermore, Hughes registered nine stolen bases during the Muskie eight-game stretch to set the school record for stolen bases in a season (22) and school mark for stolen bases in a career (66).

The OAC recognized Hughes' exceptional play earlier in the week by naming her the OAC Softball Hitter of the Week.

The Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week honorees are selected by the NFCA Division III Top 25 Committee, which has a representative for each of the eight NCAA regions.
