Basheer Alramahi Is The Second Student-Athlete From John Carroll University To Win The NCAA Elite 90 Award
ROCHESTER, New York – John Carroll University junior Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, Ohio) has achieved the Elite 90 Award at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Nazareth University.

Alramahi has maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average with a major in biology during his three years at JCU and is the second student-athlete from JCU to achieve the award - joining Lauren O'Malley in 2018-2019 with the honor.

The NCAA Elite 90 award is presented to a student-athlete who has not only shown excellence on the national level, but has also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers. This achievement is awarded to the student-athlete who has the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site for every NCAA championship.

In order to be eligible for the Elite 90 award, the student-athlete must be at least at sophomore status academically and in their second year of competition. For track & field, the student-athlete must have qualified for a national championship meet and is able to compete at the site.

Throughout his career, Basheer has become an eight-time All-American in both indoor and outdoor track & field, a multiple time OAC Athlete of the Week award winner, was named the OAC Scholar Athlete of the Month in January, and at this year's conference championships, he earned the OAC Sprinter Athlete of the Meet after becoming an OAC Champion in the 4x400 meter relay and 500 meter dash. He now owns the Division III National Record in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:02.64 set at the OAC Indoor Championships a couple of weeks ago.

This weekend, Basheer will be competing in the 400 meter dash, making his third consecutive appearance in the event for the Blue Streaks.

The 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships are currently underway at Nazareth University and will conclude on Saturday, March 15th.
