Senior Nick Colby was voted onto the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Colby was named to the Division III District VII First Team.

District VII is comprised of the Division III institutions from the states of Illnois, Indiana and Ohio.

An exercise Science major with a 3.98 grade point average, Colby is a four-time letterwinner as a thrower on the men's track & field team. Over the course of his career, he has earned All-OAC honors seven times and captured back-to-back league discus titles in 2018 and 2019. Colby is also a Division III All-American, finishing sixth place in the nation in the discus at both the 2018 and 2019 NCAA championships. He has qualified for the national championships three times, and is the first thrower in JCU program history to qualify for the indoor national meet.

Colby has earned USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor All-Region accolades three times and was an OAC Field Athlete-of-the-Week this season. He holds the school records for the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw and discus.

In the classroom, Colby has earned Dean's List status in eight consecutive semesters and was the recipient of awards such as the 2016 General Chemistry Award and the 2017 Introduction to Latin Award.  In addition to being a Celebration of Scholarship recipient, Colby has been named Academic All-OAC three times and is a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.

Colby was one of six finalists for the 2019 Beaudry Award, an honor given to a graduating senior who exemplified a commitment to leadership and faith. The Beaudry Award recognizes outstanding service in the following areas: Leadership, commitment to Christian values, academic achievement and service to the University and/or greater community. He was also the John Carroll male recipient of the 2019 OAC Clyde A. Lamb Award, which recognizes the top scholar athletes from each of the ten institutions in the league.

By virtue of earning first team all-district, Colby advances to the national ballot.
