2023 USILA / Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week – Division III – Week of May 1

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2023 Division III Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week accolades on Tuesday, May 2. Ten players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
 
The list of honorees are as follows:

Kyle Jussila | Attack | Elk River, MN | Senior | Cornell College
Kyle continues to be the best offensive player in the MLC. He was dominate in his performance against Monmouth, which we needed to win to make the playoffs. He was in complete control on offense, and earned possessions back for us on the ride time and time again posting to CTs and 9 GBS as an attackman. 

Luke Pilcher | Attack | Oakville, ON | Senior | RIT
Pilcher scored a career-high nine goals to lead No. 3 RIT to a 21-15 win over No. 12 St. Lawrence, Saturday. He fired 13-of-17 shots on target and grabbed three ground balls and caused a turnover. Pilcher scored three of the Tigers four first-quarter goals.

Joe Nugent | Attack | Philadelphia, PA | Senior | Bryn Athyn College
Had 11 goals and 3 assists in 2 playoff games vs Cairn and Keystone. He also grabbed 5 groundballs and had 1 caused turnover.

Ryan Doyle | Defense | Brighton, MI | Sophomore | University of Dubuque
Ryan had 10 gb's and 5cts vs Edgewood on wendnesday. He had 9 gbs, 1ct's, 1g, and 1a vs Northland in about 1 half of play. Another big week to help us end regular season 2-0.

Freddy Noday | FOGO | Powell, Ohio | Freshman | Capital University
Freddy had an absolutely phenomenal week at the faceoff dot winning 90.6% of his battles and picking up a combined 31 ground balls. At Wilmington, he went 23-for-24 in faceoffs with a Capital single-game record 17 ground balls. In the OAC quarterfinals and his first career postseason game vs. Mount Union, he went 25-for-29 with 14 ground balls. His 25 faceoff wins tied the program single-game record. He now was 108 ground balls this season, which is a new Capital single-season record (surpasses the previous record of 79). He also scored one goal this week against Mount Union as well.

Dan Lucas | Goalie | Weston, CT | Senior | Coast Guard Academy
Dan set Coast Guard Academy single game saves record with 21. Victory put Coast Guard Academy into conference championship week.

John DeFazio | LSM | Mountain Lakes, N.J. | Junior | Salisbury University
DeFazio led the Sea Gulls defensive midfield with two caused turnovers and four ground balls in Salisbury's wins over Catholic and Mary Washington.

Chi Chi Price | Midfield | Hingham, Mass. | Senior | Babson College
Price scored a career-high eight goals and added two assists for a career-best 10 points as Babson defeated MIT 15-14 to win its first outright NEWMAC title since 2015 while clinching the top seed in next week's conference tournament.

Cassady Bouthet | Defense | Vernon, CT | Junior | Allegheny
Helped Allegheny defeat Franciscan 17-9 in the regular-season finale to secure the first playoff berth in the program's four-year history...Scored two pole goals, his first career multi-point and multi-goal game, and only the third and fourth goals of his career...His four ground balls increased his season total to a career-high 66 this spring.

Nate Kay | Midfield | Denver, Colo. | Junior | Denison University
Kay scored seven goals and added seven assists for a total of 14 points during a 3-0 week for No. 14 Denison to clinch a share of the NCAC regular-season title. He had two goals and three assists in a 26-3 win at Hiram on Tuesday, had two goals and two assists in a 14-4 at Wooster on Thursday, and had three goals and two assists in a 29-2 win over Wabash during Denison's Senior Day on Saturday.
