NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The praise continued rolling in for Jack Clement into Tuesday morning, as the standout guard was selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for his recent performances against Marietta and Muskingum.

This is now the 27th season that D3hoops.com has selected a Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position (five men, five women) from the previous week. Clement was joined by AJ Weston (Dean), Justin Allen (Carnegie Mellon), Alex Acosta (Washington & Jefferson) and Christian Dufort (Union).

Clement spearheaded the Cardinals to critical wins last week in helping the team move into solo third place in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings. The team has now won six of the past seven games and stands 16-7 overall, 10-6 against the league.

The week began with a 26-point effort down at Marietta, where Clement stunned fans inside the Ban Johnson Arena with a game-tying, buzzer-beating three-pointer to force a second overtime. The make capped a furious 9-0 run in just over a minute.

Otterbein used that momentum to emerge 90-88 in the second OT, with Clement playing 45 minutes altogether and pulling down nine boards, sweeping Marietta this regular season.

Saturday afternoon saw Clement drop another 23 points on Senior Day in the Rike Center, where he also matched a career-high 11 rebounds against the Muskies. Otterbein worked through a sluggish first half to win 73-59.

Clement shot 19 of 35 (.543) on the week and committed just two turnovers in 79 minutes.

A huge week lies ahead for Otterbein against a pair of nationally-ranked teams atop the OAC board. The Cardinals will play host to No. 1 John Carroll on Wednesday night before traveling to play No. 22 Mount Union in the regular-season finale.
