MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College junior Jason Ellis (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding) collected another honor this week after scoring a career-high 51 points in the Pioneers' win over John Carroll University. Ellis was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week Tuesday (Dec. 10) evening.

Ellis helped lead Marietta to a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference wins last week. The Pioneers downed Otterbein, 78-56, and John Carroll, 104-98, to stay unbeaten on the season at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the OAC. Marietta moved up one spot to No. 7 in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25.

Against the Blue Streaks, Ellis hit 13-of-17 (76.5%) of his field goal attempts, including 8-of-11 (72.7%) from three-point range. He converted 17-of-19 (89.5%) free throws. His 51 points were three shy of the Marietta single game scoring record of 54 points set by Hall of Famer Don Whiting in 1916-17.

For the week, Ellis averaged 30.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. He currently leads the Pioneers in scoring averaging 21.5 points per game.

Marietta travels to Lexington, Kentucky for the Transylvania Don Lane Classic on December 17-18. The Pioneers play Transylvania on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 1 p.m. The consolation game will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 18) with the championship game following at 3 p.m.
