Four earn All-Great Lakes Region honors from D3hoops.com, Marietta's VanderWal named Coach of the Year

Austintown, Ohio--Marietta's Jon VanderWal and four others have received All-Great Lakes Region honors from D3hoops.com, announced on Monday, March 11. 

VanderWal was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year. The Pioneers clinched a share of the OAC Regular-Season title with a 14-4 OAC record (22-6) and advanced to the NCAA Div. III Elite 8 for just the second time in the program's history.   

Capital senior Austin Schreck (Erlanger, Ky.) and Ohio Northern Senior Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw, Ohio) were selected First Team All-Region. Baldwin Wallace senior Jay Battle (Gahanna, Ohio) and Marietta senior Anthony Wallace earned second team recognition. All four were voted First Team All-OAC by the league coaches. Schreck also collected the OAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards.
