MARIETTA, Ohio — For the second straight week, Marietta College senior defensive lineman
Chance Knight (Bridgeport, Ohio/Linsly School) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. His defensive performance was recognized following the Pioneers' dominant 45-10 win over Ohio Northern University this last Saturday.
Knight collected nine total tackles, including 3.5 for a loss, against a Polar Bears offense that was leading the Ohio Athletic Conference averaging 327.7 rushing yards per game. The Pioneers held ONU to 29 rushing yards, which was the fourth consecutive week that Marietta held its opponent to under 100 yards on the ground. Marietta held ONU, a team that had averaged 436 total yards per game up until Saturday, to just 144 yards in the game.
The Pioneer football team will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 12) as they travel to Heidelberg University for a contest scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
Every week during the regular season and for the past 26 seasons, D3football.com selects the Team of the Week that honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week. This is the second time this season that Knight has earned a spot on this weekly award.
