COLUMBUS, Ohio – One day after being named the Ohio Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, Capital University's James Curtis has been selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware. 

Curtis is the first Capital player selected to this team since Kam Lee in April, 2021. Additionally, Curtis is just the 11th selection in Capital football history since the award began in 1999. 

This past week, Curtis helped lead the Comets to their first win in 18 games in a 35-31 triumph over crosstown rivals Otterbein in the Battle for the Oar. In that game, Curtis tallied a career-high 14 tackles which included a strip sack that resulted in a 14-yard loss for the Cardinal offense. He also had one other tackle for a loss in the game and was involved in the game-clinching pass breakup on the final play of the game. 

So far this season, Curtis has recorded 41 tackles, six tackles for a loss, two sacks, an interception, two pass breakups, a fumble recovery and two forced fumbles. 

The Comets are in the midst of their bye week and will next take the field on October 14th at Mount Union. Kickoff in Alliance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
