MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta senior
Drake Neuberger (Norwalk, Ohio/Norwalk) continues to earn recognition for his outstanding performance against Capital University last weekend. The Pioneer defensive end was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and was also named the Division III Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the College Football Network.
Neuberger anchored the Marietta defense that held Capital to 54 yards on the ground and 10 total first downs in the 37-7 Pioneer victory in Columbus. Marietta's defense has allowed opponents just 7 points in the last 11 quarters of action.
Neuberger posted a team-high 12 tackles in the game including five solo stops and seven assisted tackles. He spent a good portion of the game in the Capital backfield recording 4.0 tackles for a loss, including 3.0 sacks. He also forced one fumble.
For the season, Neuberger leads Marietta with 22 total tackles, 11 solo and 11 assisted. He is also tops on the team with 7.0 tackles for a loss and 5.0 sacks. In addition, Neuberger has forced a pair of fumbles and recovered one other.
Marietta plays at Ohio Northern University this Saturday (Oct. 2). Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
