Otterbein senior first baseman Luke Barber (Gahanna/St. Francis DeSales) was named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America first team, announced Tuesday, July 27. Just 34 student-athletes were selected, with only 11 landing on the first team. Barber is a repeat first team selection, earning the same recogition in 2020.

Barber graduated this past May with a 3.97 GPA in mechanical engineering and was named All-OAC for the third time in his career this spring. 

Barber has started 125 career games and will be back next season to exercise another year of eligibility while pursuing a master's degree. He holds a .362 career batting average, ranking fifth all-time in program history for home runs (25) and seventh in RBI (129). He was voted the 2021 OAC Clyde Lamb Award winnner, presented annually to the top male and female senior student-athlete at each league institution.
