INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA Division III Management Council is set to be chaired by a Blue Streak.

John Carroll University's Senior Director of Athletics, Michelle Morgan, has been elected as the next chair of the NCAA Division III Management Council. Morgan will begin her tenure after the close of this January's Division III Convention business session, finishing her current role as Vice Chair.

The Management Council reports directly to the NCAA Presidents Council and is responsible for the implementation of policies adopted by the Association's Board of Governors and Division III Presidents Council. The Management Council may sponsor legislative proposals; make interpretations of Division III's bylaws; and may also handle resolution of Division III issues and recommendations from other committees and working groups throughout the Division's substructure.

In other words, it's an amazing opportunity for John Carroll to help lead Division III on the national stage.

"I am humble to be elected to this position," said Morgan. "This is a wonderful opportunity not only for me but for the university. I am excited to represent John Carroll and work for student-athletes at the Division III level."

Morgan has long been an active member on the national intercollegiate athletics scene. She joined the Management Council in 2019 and is currently serving as Vice Chair. Morgan also serves on the NCAA's United States Olympic & Paralympic Sports Liaison Committee, the Division III Championships Committee, the Division III Subcommittee for Legislative Relief, the NCAA Sportsmanship & Ethics Committee, the Division III Football Concussion Task Force, and the Division III Strategic Positioning Platform Working Group.

Previously, Morgan served nationally on the Interpretations and Legislation Committee, Division III Playing and Practice Seasons, and the Division III Women's Ice Hockey committee. She holds membership in NACDA, the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA), and Women Leaders in College Sports. In 2017-18, she participated in the NCAA's Pathway Program, a yearlong experiential leadership development program that prepares participants to run all facets of an athletics department.

Morgan steps into the leadership role at a critical juncture for the NCAA, with changes happening at a rapid pace for collegiate athletics. But no one is better suited than Morgan to take on the challenge.
