FULL CoSIDA RELEASE

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Otterbein University Sports Information Director Adam Prescott has been selected as a district winner in the 2019-20 CoSIDA Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest, as recently announced by the organization.

Prescott was one of four different individuals chosen throughout District 4, joining Colby Wilson (Austin Peay), Steve Kornacki (Michigan) and Bryan Fyalkowski of Western Kentucky. He prevailed in the Coach/Admin/Historical category for his feature on women's soccer coach Brandon Koons titled "GOAL STANDARD: Koons Creating a Lasting Legacy."

Prescott highlighted Koons (a 1994 Otterbein alum) and his decorated rise this past fall, focusing on the path of turning around a struggling women's soccer program into a national contender throughout two decades. Koons inherited a program that never had a winning record and has since compiled a coaching mark of 290-91-35 while racking up nine OAC regular-season titles, six OAC Tournament championships, and seven NCAA appearances.

This is the second CoSIDA writing award for Prescott, who was also voted one of seven national winners back in 2014 for a memorable piece on baseball player Dominic Porretta and his relationship with Ryan Trubee, a boy with autism.

A panel of 39 judges reviewed a total of 337 story entries this year, with 61 eventually being selected as winners. The Stabley Writing Contest, in its 18th year of existence, recognizes excellence in feature writing, historical features, administrator/coach profiles and event coverage. Entries are judged on overall writing style, correct use of English, inventiveness, written presentation and the ease with which the reader acquires the information.

Prescott recently finished his 12th year overall at Otterbein, fifth as head sports information director, helping direct and oversee all marketing, public relations and media responsibilities for the school's 21 NCAA Division III programs. He also had another story from this past fall, a volleyball feature titled "This, is Dasha Bruyako" in the running for national D3SIDA honors.
