Men's Golf Bows Out of 2022 NCAA Tournament After Day 2

Johnny Roder and the Blue Streaks wrapped up a magical season at the NCAA D-III Tournament on Wednesday.
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The 2021-22 campaign will not end in a national championship for John Carroll Men's Golf, but the Blue Streaks will remember this season for a very long time.

This week, the Blue Streaks returned to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in 25 years. While it did not end with a team trophy, each member of this team will remember this moment for their rest of their lives.

At the 2022 NCAA D-III Tournament, the Blue Streaks bowed out on Wednesday. John Carroll finished in a tie for 28th, missing the cut for the final two days at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.

The Blue Streaks did improve on Day 2, by 7 strokes to be exact. John Carroll shot a 315 as a team on the Las Colinas Course, a Par 71 stretching on for 6792 yards. Mike Moran's men finished the two days with a total of 634.

As he did all season, Johnny Roder guided the Blue Streaks today. He opened and closed the front nine with birdies, flying out to a hot start with a 36 (+1) to start. He birdied on the 10th hole before losing some momentum, but still finishing quite strong. The Marquette Catholic grad finished the day with a 77 at +6. In all, a very solid day and an ending to his senior season.

Zach Brinks played consistent golf all day. He stood at +4 through the front nine before trucking through the back nine. The sophomore birdied on the 12th and 13th holes. He wrapped up the day with a 78 for a +7.

Nolan Adams also played even-keeled throughout the day. The Lake Catholic alum didn't lose steam after a strong start highlighted by a birdie on the 5th hole. After the turn, the junior stayed solid, birdieing on 14 en route to a final score of 78 for the day.

Jack Wymard wrapped up a nice junior campaign on Wednesday. He experienced trouble on the front nine before catching fire on the back nine. He finished the final nine holes even, hitting par on every hole save for the 14th (bogey) and 17th (birdie). He finished with an 82.

Jacob Hazen rounded out the squad. He opened the day with a nice 39 on the front nine before finding some trouble on the back nine, despite a birdie at the 10th hole. But despite this, he finished with an 83 for the day.

All in all, the Blue Streaks gained some very valuable experience. With an overall youthful squad, the Blue Streaks have plenty of potential for the future.

If this season is a portent of things to come, then Blue Streaks fans have a lot to look forward to.
