Mount Union Alum Wayne Ruby Jr. Signs with Jacksonville Jaguars

DETROIT, Mich. – Former Mount Union wide receiver Wayne Ruby Jr. signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday.
 
"Thank you God!" wrote Ruby on X. "Signing with the Jaguars, lets gooo!!"
 
Ruby, who earned his third-straight Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Receiver of the Year recognition, led the league in yards (1,124), touchdowns (15), and receptions (75) - becoming the school's career record holder in receiving yards (5,624), receiving touchdowns (74), and receptions (362). Ruby garnered three First Team All-America honors in 2023.
 
Ruby, who hails from Pembroke Pines, Fla. – about five hours South from Jacksonville, is the 11th former Purple Raider to play in the NFL or for a franchise that eventually became a team in the NFL: (QB Jim Ballard - Cincinnati Bengals (1994) and Buffalo Bills (1997-98); WR Jasper Collins - Cleveland Browns (2013), Miami Dolphins (2013), Pittsburgh Steelers (2014), and Bengals (2014); HB Wilmer Flemming - Canton Bulldogs (1925); WR Pierre Garcon - Indianapolis Colts (2008–2011), Washington Redskins (2012–2016), and San Francisco 49ers (2017–2018); DB Chris Kern - Detroit Lions (2004); B Vince Marotta - New York Giants (1948); TE Kyle Miller - Jaguars (2011), Colts (2012), Dolphins (2012–14), Atlanta Falcons (2014–15), and San Diego Chargers (2015); WR Cecil Shorts III - Jaguars (2011–14), Houston Texans (2015), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2016); QB Scott Woolf - Los Angeles Raiders (1987); and OL Corl Zimmerman (Dayton Triangles (1927-29).
