9.4.12

DEF: Heidelberg junior defensive back Chadd Williamson (Land O’ Lakes, FL) led the Berg defensive in a 45-0 win at Alma with nine tackles, including eight solo and one tackle for a loss of nine yards and a sack for a loss of nine yards.

OFF: John Carroll sophomore quarterback Mark Myers (Pepper Pike/St. Ignatius) threw for a school record 457 yards and five touchdowns as the Blue Streaks scored 27 points in the second quart to capture their first season-opening win since 2008 with a 40-3 decision over St. Norbert College (WI) in Ireland. Myers completed 30-of-43 attempts with just one interception.

ST: Heidelberg senior kicker Dan Kilger (Novi, Michigan) helped the Berg to 45-0 season-opening win at Alma with five extra points and a 24-yard field goal. The win snapped a string of a 136 games without of shutout.

9.10.12

OFF: Baldwin Wallace junior wide receiver Cory Lanterman (Streetsboro) caught three passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Yellow Jackets to a 45-13 decision over Bluffton. Both of Lanterman’s touchdown passes of 35 and 20 yards came in the second quarter. For his efforts, he earned BW Dick Miller Community and Family Day Most Outstanding Player Award.

DEF: Baldwin Wallace senior defensive end Joe Fitch (Elyria/Catholic)tallied three tackles and three sacks to help the lead the Yellow Jackets to a 45-13 win over Bluffton. He helped BW limit Bluffton to just 111 rushing yards in 34 attempts, with a total of five sacks and three turnovers.

ST: Baldwin Wallace junior cornerback/kick returner Kevin Johnson (Maples Hts./St. Ignatius)returned the second half kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown in the Yellow Jackets 45-13 win over Bluffton. Johnson also had one tackle and a pass breakup on defense.


9.17.12

OFF: Baldwin Wallace junior wide receiver Josiah Holt (Grafton/Midview) accounted for 327 all-purpose yards in a 32-28 victory over John Carroll. Holt caught a game-high six passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning 84-yard pass with 1:21 left to play. He also ran the ball seven times for 41 yards and returned four kickoffs for 113 yards.

DEF: Otterbein senior defensive back Anthony Korpieski (Westerville/Olentangy) returned two interceptions for touchdowns of 18 and 27 yards to help lead the Cardinals to a 54-10 win over Wilmington.

ST: Capital sophomore kicker Travis Bosanac (Strongsville) booted field goals from 33 and 45 yards, along with an extra point to account for over half of the Crusaders’ points in a 13-7 win over Marietta last week.


9.24.12

OFF: Heidelberg sophomore running back Cartel Brooks (Kokomo, Ind./Galion, OH) rushed for a career-high 227 yards and three touchdowns, as the Berg defeated Wilmington 56-2. Brooks broke the school record for the longest rush with a 99 yard run for a touchdown. The record was set back in 1956 at 98 yards. Brooks helped the Berg recorded 695 yards of total offense, the most in program history.

DEF:Otterbein senior defensive end Pat Seesholtz (Bremen/Fairfield Union) tallied seven tackles, including six solo and four tackles for a loss in a 21-7 win over John Carroll. Seeholtz also recorded one pass sack, forced a fumble, and blocked a field-goal attempt in the third quarter.

ST:Heidelberg senior kicker Dan Kilger (Novi,MI) was six-of-six on PATs to help the Berg to a 56-2 win over Wilmington.


10.1.12

OFF: Otterbein senior quarter back Aaron Kingcade (Worthington/Kilbourne) led the Cardinals to a 38-17 upset over No. 9 Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. He finished the day with 268 passing yards and two touchdowns and rushed 41 yards with three touchdowns.

DEF: Heidelberg sophomore Ben Poirier (Canton, Mich)led the Berg defense with eight tackles, seven tackles for a loss and four sacks in the a 56-24 win over Marietta.

ST: Heidelberg senior punt returner CJ Powell (Detroit, Mich./Bishop Foley) tallied 127 all-purpose yards, including touchdowns on a 67-yard punt return and a 35-yard reception in the Bergs 56-24 win over Marietta.


10.8.12

OFF: Otterbein junior quarterback Ben Sizemore (Franklin)came off the bench in the first quarter and completed 12-of-21 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cardinals to a 23-13 win over Muskingum.

DEF: Heidelberg senior defensive linemanStephen Fejedelem (Raveanne) recorded eight tackles, two sacks and four tackles for a loss in the Berg’s 45-10 win over Capital.

SP TM: Baldwin Wallace junior punter Matt Harmon (Canfield)punted six times for a 37.2-yard average with a long punt of 50 yards and had two of his punts land inside the Ohio Northern 5-yard line with one at the 2-yard line and one at the 4-yard line.


10.15.12

OFF: John Carroll sophomore quarterback Mark Myers (Pepper Pike/St. Ignatius) complete 23-of-30 passes for 474 yards and six touchdowns in the Blue Streaks 55-28 win at Muskingum. His 474 yards broke the program’s single-game passing record of 457 yards and his six touchdowns match the mark established in 2002.

DEF: John Carroll sophomore defensive back Marty Gibbons (Mentor/Lake Catholic) led the Blue Steak defense with six tackles, two interceptions and a pass breakup in a 55-28 victory at Muskingum. The John Carroll defense held Muskingum to just 131 yards in the second half.

ST: Ohio Northern freshman kick returner/wide receiver Devon Price (Toledo/Start) returned the opening kickoff 70 yards to set the Polar Bears up for an early touchdown in a 56-14 win at Marietta. Price also caught a 75-yard touchdown pass.


10.22.12

OFF: Ohio Northern senior quarterback Tate Humphrey (Tarpon Springs, FL) completed 21-of-43 passes for a career-high 306 yards and a touchdown and ran 21 times for 30 yards and another score for the Polar Bears in a hard fought 28-23 loss to John Carroll.

DEF: Wilmington freshman linebacker Nick Williams (Cleveland/Fairview) made his first career start in the Quakers 13-12 win over Marietta and finished the game with a career-high 10 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a blocked field goal in the first half. The win snapped the Quakers 32-game losing streak.

ST:Wilmington senior kicker Max Gabbard (Waynesville) hit a career-long 35 yard field goal with 31 second left in a 13-12 victory over Marietta, to snap the Quakers 32-game losing streak. Gabbard added one PAT and was two-for-two on field goals.

OFF: Baldwin Wallace senior quarterback Ryan O’Rourke (Tarpon Springs, FL) completed 11-of-14 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns and ran the ball five times for 41 yards and scored BW’s first TD on an 8-yard run as the Yellow Jackets beat Marietta, 66-14.

DEF: Otterbein junior defensive end Zack Grieves (Huron) led the Cardinal defense with a career-high 12 tackles, two tackles for a loss of five yards and a sack for a loss of four yards in a 23-9 win over Capital.

ST: Ohio Northern junior punter Kevin Weslosky (Troy, Mich./Athens) punted four times for a 36-yard average with a long punt of 61yards in the Polar Bears 20-19 win over Muskingum.


11.5.12

OFF: Ohio Northern senior quarterback Tate Humphrey (Tarpon Springs, FL/Mitchell) completed 27-of-35 passes for 310 yards and four touchdowns, as ONU defeated Wilmington 51-7. Humphrey also ran for 31 yards on seven carries.

DEF: Muskingum senior defensive end Stephen Davis (New London)recorded two interceptions in the Muskies 13-6 overtime win against Capital. Davis had a 38-yard interception return early in the third quarter that halted a Capital scoring drive and returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

ST: Ohio Northern senior kicker Abrim Mueller (Uniontown/Walsh Jesuit) booted eight kickoffs for a total of 443 yards, averaging 55.4 yards per kick. He also recorded three touchbacks in the Polar Bears 51-7 win over Wilmington.


11.12.12

OFF:Heidelberg freshman running back Bryan Lacey (Benedictine/South Euclid) stepped in the starting position for injured Cartel Brooks and rushed for 201 yards in the Berg’s 35-34 win over Baldwin Wallace. The win led Heidelberg to its first postseason appearance since 1972.

DEF: Heidelberg senior linebacker Craig Sykes (Centerburg)recorded a career-high 19 tackles, two tackles for a loss and one sack in the Berg’s 35-34 win over Baldwin-Wallace. The win propelled Heidelberg to their first nine-win season since the 1972 Stagg Bowl Championship.

ST: Heidelberg sophomore punt returner Ryan Fischer (Bradenton, Fla./Braden River) returned three punts for a total of 101 yards, including a 71 yard return for a touchdown in the Berg’s 52-7 win over Alma.
