Ohio Athletic Conference

Four OAC Student-Athletes Attend NCAA Career in Sports Forum

Four Ohio Athletic Conference student-athletes attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum over the weekend at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis.

The Career in Sports Forum is an annual educational program that brings together 200 selected NCAA student-athletes to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, particularly college athletics. This unique three-day forum helps student-athletes chart their career paths.

Participants heard from more than 90 speakers in panel discussions, breakout sessions and keynote presentations. The forum allows attendees to network with peers and decision-makers at the campus, conference and national level of college athletics. Student-athletes walked away from the experience with a thorough understanding of athletics as a career path and where they fit into the industry's landscape.

"Coming into the Careers in Sports Forum I didn’t know what to expect. But, After three days at the NCAA national office I can say this opportunity was very eye opening. I’m glad I was able to meet so many likeminded individuals, and the people I’ve met and made relationships with here are ones that I will keep and cherish forever."  - Jahiem Peake, John Carroll University

"My time at the NCAA Career in Sports Forum has been nothing but amazing! Being in an environment with people who all have the same mindset, but a variety of different job goals has been truly inspiring and informative. The forum has really given me a variety of ideas of what I want to do in the sports industry such as coaching, being an athletic director and being involved in student-athlete development. The program shown me how special it is to make a positive impact on student athletes daily." - Quinten Collins, Muskingum University

"The Career in Sports Forum has been an amazing and valuable experience. The NCAA provided us with numerous resources to learn how to build genuine connections while promoting ourselves. These are skills we will utilize every day in our futures. The NCAA is inspiring us athletes to be the successful new generation in sports careers." - Sofia Thomas, Wilmington College

"This weekend at the NCAA Career in Sports Forum was a great opportunity to hear from professionals in the industry and hundreds of other student athletes pursuing a career in sports. It was really interesting to connect with people from different backgrounds while also getting the chance to learn more about myself as a leader." - Casey Miller, Wilmington College
