OAC Announces Diversity and Inclusion Task Force

The Presidents Council of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) is proud to announce the formation of a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force.  Chief Diversity and other officers from member institutions will convene with the following goals:

  1. Identify and share best practices to recruit and retain ethnically diverse students and educate all students on the importance of valuing difference.
  2. Explore collaborative opportunities for the Conference to educate and support student-athletes and athletic staff in areas of diversity and inclusion and share our common values with other students, families and fans.
  3. Create shared programs that will enhance equity on our campuses and position the OAC has a leader in the national movement to eliminate race and ethnicity as measures of human value.

The 10 member institutions share a common history and current practice of inclusion, but recognize that there is always more work to be done.  We believe that this work is better done together for the sake of our students, communities and the wider world.

This follows long-standing practices that make the OAC more than just an athletic conference.  Our member institutions have collaborated in areas from academic programs to financial planning.  This is another important step forward as our Conference and institutions seek to meet the needs of our society.
